Vintage snowmobile drag racing has been wildly successful in the province for over 20 years. What started out as “for-fun” grudge matches have turned into several race meets that can see well over 140 vintage toboggans (1981 and earlier) of all types racing for bragging rights and cool prizes. Don’t be fooled by the “vintage” moniker as some of the ultra-modified sleds can reach upwards of 140 km/h in 200 metres on snow!

An 800 hole fishing derby on Cowan Lake On Cowan Lake; off the end of Main Street in Big River Registration and pancake breakfast 8am. Fishing from 12 noon - 3pm. $10,000 first prize for the largest fish, prizes for biggest perch and walleye; hidden weight prize. Ten tagged fish, prize for first fish caught. Elysium is a yearly celebration of art, life and the summer solstice hosted at the Ness Creek Site near Big River, Saskatchewan, and is organized and funded by dedicated volunteers from The Elysium Music and Arts Foundation - a Saskatoon based non-profit organization of musicians and artists whose mission is to promote, encourage, foster and cultivate the preservation, appreciation, understanding, enjoyment, accessibility, support and performance of electronic music and live performance art in Saskatchewan.
