The dancing made it seem like the cold wind didn’t exist

A few months ago, I heard about a brand-new music festival in Waskesiu. I approached the organizers and got a busking spot on the Friday of the festival for my duo. I don’t think either of us had ever played music in Waskesiu. We were set up in front of the movie theatre at 5pm on Friday evening. Waskesiu is small enough that any spot would have been a good spot to busk. People up at the lake are generally in a different mindset than in the city – everyone was really supportive of our musical endeavours. We played for 3 exhausting hours, but wished we could have played even longer! Parents, children, teenagers, grandparents, and the odd elk showed up to hear us play. It was wonderful to participate in the festival.

The rest of the weekend was nothing short of awesome. The weather didn’t want to cooperate, but everyone still made the most of it. The band selection was great and the food was delicious. What started as 10 or 20 people sitting in lawn chairs in front of the stage at 11am turned into 50 people dancing at 7pm, while hundreds more sat and enjoyed the music. The dancing made it seem like the cold wind didn’t even exist! I hope this tradition continues and next year will be even bigger and better!
